A 5 anni dal loro disco d’esordio “Eternal life” (in cui presentavano con arrangiamenti totalmente rivisitati grandi classici internazionali degli anni ‘70 e ‘80, lavoro uscito per la Carosello e prodotto da Red Canzian), i Capsicum Tree propongono un singolo fresco ed orecchiabile (scritto ed arrangiato da loro stessi e prodotto per la Blu Notte), sorretto da un riff insistente ed ipnotico che si stampa nella testa di chi lo ascolta: The Bug; l’intenzione black può ricordare il soul anni settanta ma la miscela di influenze e la sperimentazione nei suoni è originale. Il testo è una richiesta d’aiuto, parla di un “bug”, un virus, un’idea fissa, che s’insinua nella mente e prende il sopravvento e ci martella, come il motivo melodico che domina il brano.

Il singolo è accompagnato dalla bonus track FOSTERDATICO: un’improvvisazione assolutamente libera e psichedelica, un volo folle guidato dalla batteria schizofrenica di Phil;

tutti gli altri strumenti, oltre naturalmente alle tracce vocali, sono stati suonati da Chris.

The “Eternal Life” album includes eight covers of big hits from the Seventies and Eighties that have been completely revisited and reworked in harmonical and rhythmical terms, plus three unpublished songs. The tracks are arranged in a fusion of such styles as funk, rock, jungle, jazzy and Latin influences, and not only those! The CD bears the prestige Carosello/Warner Bros label and was produced by Red Canzian, the Pooh’s historic bass guitarist.

E’ particolarmente ricco di sfumature, con frequenti cambi di registro che passano dalle tinte forti del rock, funk, jungle fino ai toni più delicati delle ballad e del jazz con alcune influenze latine. La voce fine, delicata, capace di onomatopeica ironia si incontra con un pianismo di stampo istintuale che unisce la tradizione afroamericana all’uso di colori musicali ora impressionistici ora classicheggianti.

Quando poi scatta il brano suonato a quattro mani, l’ambience acquista una valenza acustico-espressiva degna di una band completa.

Il leitmotiv del nostro sound è la proposta al pubblico di un momento musicale elegante ed allo stesso tempo divertente, birichino e seducente.
